“There are a lot of horse organizations out there, but I have yet to come across any that go to the lengths that Habitat for Horses does to save and protect horses. Everyone that loves horses should join and support Habitat for Horses.”

Handicapped children and adults are finding new freedom on horseback at the Handicapped Equestrian Learning Program, Inc. (HELP) Center. Since 1984, HELP has grown from a humble pilot program to a member facility of the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA).
Riding therepy has been utilized by centers throughout the US for over fifteen years. It is a proven method to exercise, mobilize and motivate the mind and body. It emphassizes the rider's abilities, not disabilities.
HELP's certified instructors work closely with other professionals and parents to individuallize lessons to maximize each rider's abilities. This team effort challenges riders to learn and use horsemanship skills.
Safety is a major concern. Each student is taught by an instructor and aided by leaders, side walkers, and back riders, as needed. The horses for this program have been carefully schooled and are exceptionally gently and loving.
Types of disabilities do not exclude an individual's participation. Currently riders with cerbral palsy, learning disabililties, autism and visual impairments are experiencing the joys of riding and warm bond between horse and rider.
HELP's successes result from the caring and cooperation of many people. Riders, families, volunteers, and sponsors are having amazing results. If you have a the time, talent or treasure to become a part of the HELP's team and share in our sucess, call 512-251-1099 today.
For every home that is purchased, a donation will go towards helping a handicap child with lesson's for one month.
